Vintage French made 4/4 Violin labelled NICOLA LUPOT a Paris 1819

This is a superb example of a hand made 4/4 French Violin crafted in the style of famed Luther, Nicolas Lupot.

Nicolas Lupot was France’s most celebrated Violin maker. He is considered by experts as the French Stradivarius with his violins fetching upwards of $300,000.

While this vintage French made violin is not a Lupot built instrument, it is still a fine instrument.

The 2-piece back and ribs are hewn from boldly flamed solid Maple while the carved solid Spruce top is in excellent condition, exhibiting the fine grain that offers the first clue to the quality of this violin.

This violin has undergone a comprehensive restoration and setup by us.

The original finish is in excellent condition, confirming the love and care held for this instrument by it’s previous owner over more than 50 years.

We have fitted a new bridge. Peg bushings had been fitted at a previous time and we have fitted German Wittner Fine-Tune pegs. They look like normal violin pegs yet offer the most sublime tuning experience through their internal gearing. Tuning could not be easier or more accurate. We have fitted a vintage Hill style fine tuner to the Ebony tailpiece for aesthetic value.

Strung with Pirastro Obligato strings, this violin offers excellent projection and tonal complexity with a focused, warm and full voice with brilliant, rich overtones.

While we have tried to capture the essence of this superb instrument, the photos really don’t do it justice. This violin presents a unique opportunity to own a professionally setup and beautiful sounding vintage French made instrument. There is nothing more to do other than make music!

This violin would suit an advanced student and beyond.
