This year’s masterful LTD-2017 Magome is truly something special. While its true that some will find their way into private collections, for the discerning musician however, the LTD-2017 represents nothing but the very best in tone and playability.
More than 400 years ago, during the Edo period where Japan was renowned for it’s superlative arts and culture, there was a highway called Nakasendō that stretched from Edo (now Tokyo) to Kyoto. Over 300 miles long, the road hosted travelers on the long journey between these two great cities.
As it stretched through the Kiso valley in Gifu, travelers could stop at Magome to rest their horses, feast on soba noodles made with buckwheat that was ground fresh in the water mills that lined the road and sleep in the many inns that Magome offered. Today in the city of Nakatsugawa, Gifu, this section of the road has been lovingly preserved as an attraction and as a reminder of the fine craftsmanship in this region of Japan.
The Takamine LTD-2017 Magome is a testament to the beautiful craftsmanship that this region has become famous for. It will come as no surprise then to know that this is the very same region in which Takamine guitars are lovingly crafted to this day.
A special limited-edition guitar, the Magome is an OM-bodied acoustic electric guitar with a solid Spruce top and solid Indian Rosewood back and sides. Bespoke features include a Mahogany neck with an Ebony fingerboard that has been painstakingly inlaid with an intricate abalone “Legend of the Road” motif.
A stunning looking instrument that anyone would be proud to own, the Magome is also every inch a player’s guitar.The guitar features Takamine’s renowned Palathetic pickup with a CTP-3 CoolTube preamp, a bone nut and saddle, abalone purfling and rosette and gold hardware.
Resplendent in it’s gloss lacquer “thin skin” finish with cream and abalone binding, the Magome includes a commemorative Certificate of Authenticity.
