LYLE LOVETT
with Randy Newman & Mark Isham
featuring songs from the album Smile

Lyle Pearce Lovett, born on November 1, 1957, is a celebrated American singer, songwriter, actor and record producer. Since 1980, Lyle Lovett has recorded 13 albums and released 25 singles.

Lyle Lovett has won four Grammy Awards, including Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Album. His album “It’s Not Big It’s Large” peaked at number 2 on the Top Country Albums chart.

The genre-hopping work of Lyle Lovett has seen him blossom from a country-based singer/songwriter, to an assured artist unafraid to take on numerous different styles and break new ground.

His country roots are partly explained by his Texas upbringing, but he soon branched out and enjoyed huge crossover success with his subtle blending of ideas from folk, jazz and rock backgrounds.

This spectacular live show sees him performing with the backing of a 26 piece orchestra along with a killer 16 piece band. The material mainly focuses on his album “Smile,” a collection of cover versions of music from American films.

Legendary singer/songwriter Randy Newman joins Lyle Lovett to duet on several songs, as well as performing some solo numbers.

Trumpeter Mark Ishman is another notable guest. Mark’s stirring musicianship helps bring the show to a beautiful close as Lovett shows off his eclectic tastes by working his way through a number of gospel classics.

This is a superb performance for lovers of fine music. The musicianship is second to none and the performances are simply electric.

There probably isn’t a better way to spend a rainy afternoon.
