The Savarez story is a proud one with a history that spans more than 250 years and reaches right back to the 1770s.
Arriving from Italy, the Savaresse family settled in Paris where they began the manufacture of rectified gut strings by hand and production of wound strings.
As their business and reputation grew, the fifty years spanning 1880-1930 proved particulalry fruitful. Through constant innovation, Savarez continued to develop their range and began to combine silk and steel with groundbreaking results. Pioneering the use of Bronze and Brass in the manufacture of strings also began during this period.
The arrival of nylon the 1930s however, heralded major advances in string manufacturing.
Savarez introduced cutting edge technologies at this time including the grinding of nylon for precise sizing and tonal control. The results were astounding and global success quickly followed with YSAYE strings for bowed instruments.
At this time Savarez released their master ARGENTINA strings for acoustic jazz guitar. They went onto become the strings used by Jazz Guitar legend, Django Rheinardt and used exclusively by the manufacturers of Selmer Maccaferri guitars.
Today, Savarez utilise newly developed winding techniques for their ARGENTINA strings, ensuring even more consistency and uniformity between the steel core and the silver plated metal strip.
As a result, ARGENTINA strings are harmonically rich with a powerful, clear and brilliant sound.
Their advanced construction makes ARGENTINA strings more resistant to corrosion giving them a longer life. ARGENTINA strings are made to be played – hard!
Savarez ARGENTINA are the only strings that reproduce the authentic sounds of gypsy jazz guitars.
