Rotosound RLV1 The LEVELLER EQ Pedal Hand Built in the UK
Designed by famed electronics wizard, John Oram of VOX and TRIDENT fame, The Leveller by Rotosound is a hand made EQ Pedal.
John Oram played drums for Marianne Faithfull, helped Stan Cutler develop the first wah‑wah pedal, created Reflex active guitar pickups, owned his own recording studio and been instrumental in a number of groundbreaking audio products, including Trident’s first parametric equaliser and a number of Trident recording consoles. Known as the ‘Father of British EQ’, which he accepts in a kind of tongue‑in‑cheek way, but there’s nothing frivolous about the way John Oram approaches audio design.
The Leveller has been designed to deliver vintage sounding equalisation across three bands, low, mid and high, labeled as Boom, Honk and Fizz! Each band offers plus and minus 18db of cut or boost, giving a wide array of tonal options but with a smooth and musical tone throughout.
The Leveller features Rotosound’s authentic vintage design with a large footprint and intuitive operation thanks to the simple control layout.
Plugged into the front of our studio amp, the ‘Leveller’ was a great performer allowing for precise control over boost and attenuation of the three frequency bands without introducing excessive noise or artifacts into the signal. While the Boom, Honk and Fizz frequencies have been aimed at guitar players, they offer great tonal variations for bass guitar too.
Switching is noiseless and in bypass mode the pedal is completely transparent, leaving your original tone intact. The Leveller is a very solid, smooth and musical performer with very easy operation.
