MATON EML 6 Mini Maton Acoustic Electric Guitar
The Mini Maton EML 6 is a small-bodied Acoustic Guitar with a very big voice. Originally conceived in conjunction with Mark Lizotte – a.k.a. “Diesel” this guitar packs a punch well above its weight. Though a lot smaller than a standard dreadnought, it delivers a lively tone with more bottom end response that might otherwise be expected from an instrument of such compact proportions.
The Maton EML 6 is the most affordable model in Maton’s EML range of mini guitars.
Small on size yet big on features, the Mini Maton EML 6 offers the classic combination of a solid Spruce top with Queensland Maple back and sides. An added bonus is the recent inclusion of Maton’s renowned AP5 pickup and preaamp system – a favourite with Artists the World over.
The Mini Maton EML/6 makes a great traveller guitar as well as a smooth Live performance axe.
Handcrafted in the Victorian city of Bayswater, Australia.
MATON GUITARS
From a small backyard workshop started in 1946 Maton Guitars has grown into a truly great Australian success story. Currently Maton employs 60 people and remains 100 per cent family owned and operated. South Coast Music has been a proud partner of Maton Guitars since 1985. Our owner, John Kuts bought his first Maton back in 1972 – with the money earned from his paper round. He still plays it to this day!
From the initial selection and grading of rough sawn timber to the careful levelling and polishing of the frets, every step of the guitar making process is overseen by Maton’s Luthiers in Melbourne Australia. It is this attention to detail that ensures that every guitar they produce deserves to bear the name Maton.
Maton specialises in creating superbly crafted guitars from Australian timbers such as Blackwood, Bunya, Queensland Maple, Queensland Walnut and now Satin Box. Bill May pioneered the use of many Australian wood species in guitar construction, and is regarded by many Australian Luthiers as one of the founding father of the industry. The Maton team are constantly investigating new materials and techniques in the pursuit of creating the worlds finest guitars.
Maton manufactures its own pickups, essential to maintaining the sound of both the instrument and its internal amplification system. After much research and development the Maton AP4 Pickup system was created. The innovation continued when Maton in conjunction with Guitar legend tommy Emmanuel developed the APMic system. The APMic utilises both the piezo based system and a microphone which is located in the body of the guitar to pick up on the natural acoustic qualities of the instrument.
