Featuring a traditional 000 OM-Orchestra style body with solid Indian Rosewood back and sides. The CS Classic is a favourite of Eric Johnson and with good reason…the C.S Classic is one of the finest guitars ever to come out of the Maton Custom Shop. The AP5-Pro pickup system nails the acoustic tones of this stellar guitar plugged into a quality Acoustic Guitar Amp, PA System or Recording Console.
Hand made by Andy Allen in the Maton Custom Shop, this is what Andy has to say about his creation;
“The CS Classic is my Custom Shop take on an Acoustic Guitar Standard. The 000 or OM (Orchestra Model) body shape has been an icon for all acoustic guitar makers for decades now.
Utilising the timbers that are most recognised in the style, I developed The CS Classic with a mix of AAA Grade European Spruce and Indian Rosewood for the back and sides.
After extensive testing tonally and geometrically I settled upon a forward shifted X brace pattern to bring the rich bottom end from the guitar whilst maintaining an earthy mid-range and that classic Maton Glassy top register.
It is not only the balance of tonality I am proud of, but the projection, clarity and volume that this shape captures so well. It truly is a classic shape.
I now realise after prototyping, research and development why so many incredible guitar players choose this amazing guitar to help realise their voice. It is not just the comfort of this shape for hours of practice and performance but the ability to pick, strum and play fingerstyle on this shape means it becomes part of who you are as a musician.”
