Lute Harp 22 Strings includes Soft Case and Tuning Wrench
This 22 String Lute Harp has been hand crafted from Beechwood.
Beech is a superb tonewood with tonal properties similar to mahogany. The grain is straight with a fine, even texture offering excellent sustain and a warm midrange tone.
The Bridge pins are found just below the tuning pins on the Neck (also called the “harmonic curve”) of the harp. The string exits the sound box, is wrapped around the tuning pin and lays against the bridge pin to create enough tension for the string to vibrate with a clean and pure tone. There are many varying points of view regarding the angle of of the strings relative to the bridge pins but the status quo is to provide a string that is stable, has a comfortable feel and a pure tone.
Harps are complex instruments that can cost many thousands of dollars. A common issue that can affect the way a more affordable harp such as this one sounds is the way the strings lay across the bridge pins. If there is insufficient tension, the strings will “buzz” or “rattle”. Usually only one or two strings are affected, nonetheless, it can be quite annoying. Our inhouse technician, John Kuts has setup this Lute Harp to alleviate any bridge pin issues.
We recommend that this Lute Harp is tuned diatonically (like the natural notes or white keys on a piano), from the longest to the shortest note – in this instance from C4 to C7. The fluorocarbon nylon strings used are hands down the best choice for beginners and intermediate players. They are easy to keep in tune, more forgiving of technique and cost less than wound strings. They have a lovely medium tension and a beautiful tone.
