LP® Latin Percussion LP234B Afuche / Cabasa Large Wood
Latin Percussion (LP®) is the world’s leading manufacturer of percussion instruments and may be found on stages, recording studios and schools the world over.
Designed and patented by LP® founder, Martin Cohen more than forty years ago, the Afuche – also known as the Cabasa, has become one of the world’s most popular hand percussion instruments and an essential part of the percussionist’s arsenal.
The LP LP234B Large Afuche/Cabasa features a 5 1/2″ diameter cylinder with a wood handle and flanges.
The LP Afuche/Cabasa is used to create rhythmic scraping sounds and patterns. Loops of steel bead chain are wrapped around a specially textured stainless steel cylinder. The distinctive sound is produced as the chain vibrates against the Afuche/Cabasa’s wooden flanges and cylinder. The percussionist holds the instrument by its wooden handle and manipulates the beads against the textured steel cylinder by spinning or shaking the Cabasa for a variety of sounds.
