More than just a metal machine, this Pro Series Dinky™ DK2 features an organic Okoume body, graphite-reinforced bolt-on maple neck with hand-rubbed urethane gel back finish, wrap-around heel and convenient heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel. Its bound 12″-16″ compound radius ebony fingerboard hosts 24 jumbo frets and offset white dot inlays.
A pair of direct mount Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups—JB™ TB-4 (bridge) and ’59 (neck)—power this axe, with master volume and tone controls and five-way blade switching to tweak and refine tone, and a recessed Floyd Rose® double-locking tremolo system for tuning stability.
Okoume (pronounced oh-kuh-mey) Aucoumea klaineana, is a sustainable African hardwood that can only be found in the Congo, Gabon and Africa’s Equatorial Guinea. Okoume trees grow quickly in close stands and it is not uncommon for them to reach heights of 40 metres or more. Okoume has a uniform texture and attractive interlocked grain.
Okoume was traditionally used for building racing boats and other lightweight applications. Similar to but lighter in weight than mahogany, Okoume is also an exceptional tonewood. Due to the high cost of Okoume it still remains largely a boutique tonewood used on uber-expensive instruments. With this Pro Series Dinky™ DK2 Okoume, Jackson have now made this wonderful tonewood accessible to a wider audience.
The Pro Series Dinky™ DK2 Okoume features a hand rubbed Urethane finish that brings out the natural beauty of this exotic tonewood.
