The David Ellefson CB-XV 5-string X-Series bass is a formidable addition to the Jackson Bass Guitar family. Bearing the personal stamp and distinctive features of the fleet-fingered Megadeth bassist, the CB-XV 5-string X-Series bass is a weapon. Featuring a pair of earth-shaking dual humbucking pickups with sophisticated onboard controls and a lightspeed compound-radius fingerboard, the CB-XV is pure Jackson and pure Ellefson in sound, feel, look and value.
The solid alder Concert Bass body looks beautifully sinister in its gloss finish while the bolt-on quartersawn maple neck with its special Dave Ellefson profile shape, ivoroid binding and oiled finish give it a rock solid yet smooth and eminently playable feel.
Another professional touch is the Rosewood fingerboard. Rosewood is becoming increasingly difficult to source and manufacturers are already using alternatives. That makes this Rosewood appointed bass a future collectable. But for now its all about the music and with 21 jumbo frets, Jackson signature Shark fin inlays and ivoroid-bound black headstock with ’90s-style Jackson logo – the look is unmistakable.
A pair of EMG HZ humbucking bass pickups with active EQ make sure that you will be heard – there is an EMG HZ40N humnucker in the neck position and HZ40B at the bridge. The EMG BEQ3 active preamp is the perfect set of electronics to enable you to dial in “that” sound.
A domed volume, three-band EQ and blend control knobs, high-mass five-string bridge, black hardware and David Ellefson silver “Fallout” logo on the truss rod cover round out the awesome looks and utility of this radical 5-string.
