Before you read on, it’s important to know that this guitar is simply not sold to you “out of the box”. This Ibanez GA6CE-AM is a good guitar for its price however, with the addition of our Pro-SCM setup, it represents exceptional value for money. The reality is that almost every guitar leave the factory with a “universal” setup. It would be uneconomical to do the work we do at the factory level – the guitars would simply cost too much plus, it would be impossible to second guess the requirements of the individual player. You can read a description of what our Pro-SCM setup entails further below.
Ibanez have designed the GA6CE-AM as a performer’s guitar. Focused on stage and studio duties, the GA6CE-AM features the Fishman designed AEQ-2T Active Preamp / undersaddle pickup. The AEQ-2T preamplifier allows you to easily adjust and control the amplified tone of your guitar and the built-in tuner ensures that whatever you play is in-tune and sounds musical.
The Spruce top with it’s fan bracing gives the GA6CE-AM guitar its full and focused tone.
As well as Spruce top, the Sapele back and sides feature beautifully hand inlaid multi-ply binding that adds a significant touch of class to what is already a well priced guitar. The Okoume neck features a 19 fret Purpleheart fingerboard.
A South Coast Music Pro-SCM Setup
Its a well known fact that Ibanez make great guitars. Timber is used for the most part for the construction of these fine instruments.
Timber comes from trees and with the changes in weather conditions, humidity etc, these timbers often try to be trees again.
Necks can move, fretboards can shrink ever-so-slightly exposing sharp fret ends, etc, etc.
It is also impossible at the factory level to second guess the exact requirements of how a player likes their instrument to be setup, so they are setup within a defined tolerance.
We setup a lot of instruments.
This instrument for example will be setup for you before it leaves our shop. We will discuss your preferences with you and work towards providing that. If you are a beginner we will guide you and ensure that this instrument is as easy to play as it possibly can be.
Our Pro-SCM setup includes:
• Check that the action meets factory or your specifications
• Check and rectify any buzzing, intonation or playability issues
• Check and adjust the nut and bridge string heights
• Hand roll the fret ends to debur the sharp edges and polish the frets
• Test electronics, pots and switches for correct function
• Inspect instrument construction and condition of the strings
• Tune to pitch
