Parlour-sized bodies have been used by acoustic guitar builders for centuries. A compact, easy-to-hold size and focused, intimate voicings have made parlour guitars attractive tools for vocal accompaniment and small ensembles through the ages. Blues and folk musicians embraced them in the early 20th century, and the body shape has become one of the standard offerings among fine guitar producers.
The Hagstrom Seafarer sits squarely in this tradition. Its smaller body and more pronounced waist exhibit classic parlour dimensions. Hagstrom have chosen mahogany for the back and sides and solid Sitka spruce for the top, which together create a warm and full-bodied voice with especially rich mid-range sonorities. A fingerboard and bridge made of their unique Resinator™ material, with the density, hardness, and sophisticated texture of ebony, contribute a level of tonal articulation usually found only in much more expensive instruments. Fishman’s ISYS pickup and preamp round out the package with authentic and expressive amplification support.

Pro-SCM setup for optimum comfort and playability
This is a fine guitar, still, our regular customers are fussy and our Pro-SCM setup ensures optimum playability. Frets are checked for level, the ends are hand rolled and the frets then polished. Both fretboard and bridge are oiled and polished. If you have a preference for string height, let us know when you make your purchase. The nut will be de-burred of sharp edges and nut slots cut to ensure easy action. The saddle will also be check and adjusted as required. Once again, this is your opportunity to have this guitar set up to your requirements. Yamaha provide 12-53 gauge strings. If you would like your brand new guitar set up with a different gauge or brand of strings, let us know – you only pay for the strings!

Hagstrom Machine Heads
Hagstrom models use 18:1 or 15:1 gear ratio machine heads based on their own designs to insure accurate tuning. Viking® and HB series basses feature machine heads with a 17:1 gear ratio.
Resinator Wood
Resinator™ wood is a wood composite material that is both more uniform in density and more stable than any standard wood product. These characteristics eliminate dead spots or “wolf tones” sometimes associated with conventional wood fingerboards. Resinator™ wood has an articulate sound similar to high quality ebony, but without any of the problems associated with ebony. It provides a stable and clear tone, and also adds higher overtones and harmonics which uniquely detail each note. Like their H-Expander™ truss rod, Resinator™ wood is a major contributor to the distinctive “Hagstrom tone”.
Fishman ISYS+ 301
All Hagstrom acoustic-electric models are equipped with Fishman’s professional quality ISYS 301 Plus preamp and Sonicore transducer system. Advanced features such as a built-in autochromatic tuner and Phase adjustment control provide the perfect support for Hagstrom’s unique acoustic voice.
