This superb Gretsch USA Custom Drum Set was specifically designed at the USA Custom Drum Shop by Gretsch’s master drum builders and includes a first for Gretsch – satin drum hardware. Other than the floor tom legs and tension rods, the satin finish is featured on all of the kit’s hardware and metal components. The hardware supplied consists of a Top-of-the-Range Gibraltar 6700 Hardware pack which includes a Straight Cymbal Stand, Boom Cymbal Stand, Snare Stand, Hi Hat Stand and Bass Drum Pedal.
Make no mistake, this stricly limited edition run was limited to only twenty kits, worldwide, making this drum set really something special.
The finish can only be described as “simply stunning”. The finish, called “Red Duco” is actually red/silver/red Nitrocellulose Gloss Lacquer which has been hand buffed to achieve the vintage Gretsch Duco appearance. Unlike “plastic” Poly-based finishes, Nitrocellulose is an extremely desirable coating for tone woods. As well as looking great, Nitrocellulose allows the wood to “breathe” and resonate freely. The combination of the satiny-looking Duco with the satin hardware reveals a finish blend that is irresistibly smooth, subtle and classy.
This is no show pony though, behind the sleek appearance lies 100% classic USA Custom drum specifications and performance.
The Classic 6-ply Gretsch-formula shells include 30-degree precision bearing edges and die-cast hoops with interior Silver Sealer finish. The 18″x 22″ bass drum and 6.5″x 14″ 8-lug snare drum offer tremendous versatility and a powerful sonic punch when required. The 8″x 10″ and 8″x 12″ toms are both the same depth, as are the 14″x 14″ and 14″x 16″ floor toms. As well as the symmetric visual platform for the red/silver/red Duco finish, these sizes were ultimately chosen to provide an overall balanced and highly controlled drum set sound .
Another first, the specially designed “Since 1883” black square badges are unique and have not been used on any other standard-production Gretsch drum set.
