Founded in 1883, Gretsch is one of the oldest American music companies still operating today. Reading like a classic American success story, Gretsch’s history is both fascinating and inspiring. At the age of 27, German immigrant Friedrich Gretsch opened a music store in Brooklyn, New York, where he made and sold drums, banjos and tambourines.
Gretsch quickly became known as an innovator in the field of drum-making and single-handedly changed the face of modern drum production — for the first of many times — by creating the first “warp free” drum hoop in 1918. In 1927, Gretsch produced the Gretsch-American drum series, the first drums produced with multi-ply shells, which would become part of Gretsch’s signature sound and remain so to this day.
In celebration of the Gretsch Company’s 130th Anniversary, Gretsch Drums has built an extremely limited number of 4-piece Renown Retroluxe drum sets. Featuring 6-ply Maple Shells, the tone is powerful and warm with balanced mid and high frequencies.
Deluxe features on this release include a special Gretsch 130th Anniversary rare two-toned black/gold lacquer finish that Gretsch also used on their 130th Anniversary guitars. It looks superb and is exclusive to Australian players.
Each shell also features a distinctive ½” chromed metal “crown” band in the middle of each shell that separates the black and gold. Exclusive Gretsch Retroluxe Badges were also specially cast for this kit.
This drum set includes classic Renown (RN) features with the addition of Gretsch’s new Renown (RN1) tom suspension system.

Gibraltar 6700 hardware
The 6700 Series features heavy-duty construction, yet offers the practicality of being light enough in weight and mass for easy transport to rehearsal and show. Cymbal stands have been upgraded with Brake tilters, 18” boom rods with memory lock and G contour super-lock height adjustment. The Hi Hat stand is fitted with a direct drive linkage and the brand new G Class fast touch foot board.
