Greg Bennett Designs

Drawing on decades of experience building guitars and basses for some of the biggest brands in the business, Samick joined forces with the late American Guitar Designer, Greg Bennett. Greg’s background with companies such as Gibson and his passion as a player made him uniquely qualified and his partnership with Samick very special. Together, they challenged the majority of credible design and style categories, creating their own instruments that in effect paid tribute to those original designs while creating a new and unique perspective. The designs were conceptualised, designed and refined in Greg’s studio in Nashville. Most importantly, these instruments were, and remain affordable. Sadly, Greg Bennet passed away in 2020. Thankfully, his legacy lives on.

Players are often looking for something special or unique, but they want it to have a familiar feel. The Greg Bennett AB2 Regency Acoustic Electric Bass Guitar ticks those boxes. While it’s affordable and ideal for beginners, the excellent build quality and inclusions make the AB2 an appealing option for more experienced players as well.

Featuring a comfortable mini-jumbo/grand auditorium sized body, comfortable neck shape and Fishman electronics, the Regency AB2 is an accessible bass that offers great value for money.

Comfy Body and Great Playability

The mini jumbo/grand auditorium body shape is a popular mid-sized acoustic shape. The Regency AB2 is less cumbersome that larger acoustic shapes making it really comfortable to hold and play and the soft Venetian cutaway offers easy access to the upper frets. The body features a select Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides delivering a resonant and balanced tone.

The Mahogany neck has a 20 fret Rosewood fretboard with a 12″ radius that’s comfortable for beginners and experienced players alike. The inclusion of our Pro-SCM setup ensures that it’s smooth, natural feeling and easy to fret notes on.

Ensure That You’re Heard

While the Greg Bennett AB2 Regency sound great unplugged, sometimes a little more is required. An under-saddle transducer coupled with a passive preamp provide simple, easy to use controls for shaping your tone onstage or in the studio.

Pro-SCM setup . . . the next level

The Greg Bennett AB2 Regency Acoustic Electric Bass guitar offers incredible bang-for-your-buck value.

The materials used and build quality are way above what is expected for an instrument at this price.
As with almost every brand name bass or guitar – and we include the biggest brands in this – they are setup to a tolerance deemed acceptable by the manufacturer. Newbies almost always don’t know the difference and experienced players should know better.

The truth is that most guitar manufacturers don’t invest much effort into the final setup process. A professional setup involves precision – precision requires time and, time is money. Almost every major manufacturer is focused on the bottom line and that means pumping out as many instruments as possible every day.

When you buy a guitar or bass from southcoastmusic that includes a Pro-SCM setup, you buy confidently knowing that an experienced technician has not only “checked” your bass, it has been adjusted and set it up to play at its best. Frets dressed if required, rolled fret ends, shaped and height adjusted nut and saddle – whatever we feel is needed to provide the best playing experience for you.

Ultimately, its your call. We know that you can buy cheaper however, we sincerely believe that you won’t buy better.
