The Gibson Flying V is one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable electric guitars of all time. One of Gibson’s most loved revolutionary models from their original Modernist Series, the Flying V first saw light of day in 1958. Fast forward sixty years and here is the 2018 Gibson Flying V in Aged Cherry Gloss Nitro Lacquer…and its a weapon.

Gibson’s SlimTaper profile neck is standard issue on this 2018 Flying V. Smooth feel and fast action are the hallmarks of the Slim Taper neck. The fretboard is ultra-smooth Granadillo – a beautiful and extremely hard and resonant tonewood normally found on ultra-expensive orchestral woodwind instruments and it works a treat here delivering both the comfort and performance of a premium USA made instrument.

There really is something magical about that classic Gibson tone and it doesn’t get much better than this pair of Burstbucker pickups. The tight and punchy bottom end that is perfect for detuning, authoritive and complex midrange tones and sweet highs are everything that you expect when you pick up a Gibson! That’s because of The original PAF humbuckers are the stuff of legends and these Burstbucker pickups were designed to re-create that sound to a tee.
Cryogenically Treated Frets
The frets on your Gibson Flying V have been cryogenically treated through exposure to liquid nitrogen at around -300ºF. Gibson’s comprehensive testing process (roughly 277,000 string bends) found that cryogenically treated frets lasted up to four times longer than standard frets. The tensile strength of the frets is increased dramatically without changing the hardness meaning that they feel the same as standard frets. Thanks to its cryogenically treated frets, your Gibson Flying V will likely never need a fret job!
