Gibson Memphis ES-335 Figured Antique Sunset Burst – actual guitar pictured
Gibson rocked the guitar world with the unveiling of its thinline, semi-acoustic ES-335 in 1958. Designated ES for “Electric-Spanish”, the guitar was an overnight success igniting the musical passion of guitarists the world over and is considered the standard in semi-hollowbody guitars.
The ES335 has gone on to become one of the most recognisable designs in Gibson’s range of guitars. Joining the 2018 line-up, this beautiful semi-hollow designed guitar has been beautifully crafted with a gorgeous figured Maple and Poplar top veneer. The same superb craftsmanship and detailed appointments that made the original a smash hit in 1958 are here in spades.
The three ply laminated figured Maple and Poplar top, back and sides, Maple centre block and quartersawn Mahogany neck make up the quality tonewood compliment of this beautiful ES 335. Additionally, quartersawn Adirondack Spruce has been used in the bracing to further enhance the rich tone of this classic instrument.
While the ES-335 generally appeals to jazz and blues players its versatility is without question. The Laminated construction and solid Maple centre block have been designed to control feedback and that’s just what they do. Gibson have equipped the ES335 with a pair of MHS humbucking pickups and MTC Premiere controls. Whether you are performing, recording, jamming with friends or just noodling around at home, The ES335 gives you a massive range of stylistic options.
Here at southcoastmusic we love the Gibson ES335 and we’re sure that you will too!
