Dave GrohI is a man who needs no introduction. From his role as the drummer for the legendary band Nirvana to his achievements as a guitarist, singer and songwriter with Foo Fighters, he is an alternative rock legend.
Dave is also a long-time Gibson user and his Gibson signature guitars are extraordinarily elusive, commanding premium prices on the used market if and when you can find one.
His first signature Gibson was based on his 1967 Trini Lopez – his most prized guitar. It’s the guitar he’s used on every single Foo Fighters record. In his own words, “A beautiful guitar. I saw this in a guitar shop in Bethesda, Maryland. I think it was 1992, ’93, or something like that. I think I was still in Nirvana when I bought it. I thought it was unusual. It looks like a Gibson ES-335, except it has diamond-shaped f-holes and has this different headstock on it. And I didn’t really know anything about Trini Lopez, the artist, when I bought it. Every album we have ever made, from the first to the latest, was recorded with my 1967 Trini Lopez signature guitar. It is the sound of our band, and my most prized possession from the day I bought it in 1992. Thank you, Trini for all of your contributions.”
The Dave Grohl DG-335 is the most requested model in Epiphone’s history. A product of the close collaboration between Epiphone and the Gibson Custom Shop, this is an exceptional, top tier guitar at a mid-range price.

Pro-SCM setup . . . the next level
The Epiphone Dave Grohl DG-335 semi-hollow electric guitar offers is a beautiful guitar.
The materials used and overall build quality are top shelf but the reviews will tell you that they are not perfect.
As with almost every brand name bass or guitar – and we include the biggest brands in this – they are setup to a tolerance deemed acceptable by the manufacturer. Newbies almost always don’t know the difference and experienced players should know better.
The truth is that most guitar manufacturers can’t afford to invest much effort into the final setup process. A professional setup involves precision – precision requires time and, time is money. The major manufacturers are focused on providing instruments at prices that the market will bear. Add in the fact that every player’s requirements are unique and you have something that is simply impossible to provide at the factory level.
When you buy a guitar from southcoastmusic that includes a Pro-SCM setup, you buy confidently knowing that an experienced technician has not only “checked” your guitar, it has been adjusted and set it up to play at its best. Frets dressed if required, rolled fret ends, shaped and height adjusted nut and saddle, intonation, pickup height – whatever we feel is needed to provide the best playing experience is sorted.
Ultimately, its your call. We know that you can buy cheaper however, we sincerely believe that you won’t buy better. Our loyal, return customers agree.
