The Epiphone Broadway name was originally a non-cutaway acoustic archtop produced from 1931 to 1957. After the takeover by Gibson in 1957 production was switched from New York to Kalamazoo, Michigan and under Gibson’s stewardship the “Broadway” designation was transferred to a new full-size single cutaway electric archtop.

The Broadway, which had never been available as an electric in the old Epiphone line was now available only as an electric in the Gibson-made offering and became one of only two electric guitar models with a full-depth hollow body to be produced in Kalamazoo until it was discontinued in 1969.

Reissued in 1997 with a slightly rounder treble horn, humbucking pickups, pearl/abalone V-block inlays, a clipped-ear headstock with a “Tree of Life” inlay, the broadway continues to today, albeit in limited numbers and is only available in a natural finish.

This brand new Epiphone® Broadway Archtop Hollow Body Electric Guitar is a real Manhattan Jazz Monster powered by a pair of sweet sounding Alnico Classic™ Humbucker pickups on a multi-bound maple body with select Spruce Top that delivers great projection and that classic jazz guitar tone.

Many credit Leo Fender with introducing the 25.5″ scale length but the truth is that Gibson was using it decades before on their L5 and Super 400 Jazz boxes…and of course Epiphone is part of the Gibson Family.

The 25.5” scale neck is hand finished from Canadian Hard Maple and features a Rosewood fingerboard with Epiphone’s signature “block and triangle” pearloid and Abalone inlays. In the true spirit of the :Jazz Box”, the Broadway features an adjustable, floating Rosewood bridge combined with Epiphone’s authentic Frequensator split-trapeze tailpiece providing a classic look, feel and sound.

This guitar was originally introduced in 1931 and still sets the standard for jumbo jazz boxes and is also one of the largest, measuring 17″ across the lower bout for unmatched full-range, big jazz tone.
