This is the Blackstar Artisan 10 AE anniversary edition, a low-gain amplifier designed to give you that classic British crunch tone.
Utilising an ECC83 tube in the preamp section along with a EL34 power tube, the result is that glorious British guitar tone that breaks up beautifully to deliver that classic organic grit and grind when pushed hard.
You shouldn’t have to work hard to achieve great toned to that end, Blackstar have kept the control panel deceptively simple with a gain, tone, reverb and master volume control. But…switch on the hot preamp boost and hang on! This is the Artisan’s signature authentic chunky sound, the perfect timbre for rock and indie music. Ideal for rhythm or as an articulate lead tone in the style of Billy Gibbons.
Quarter inch speaker outputs are on hand for 8 and 16 Ohm cabinets. You’ll also find a 6.35mm (1/4″) emulated speaker output that is tapped directly after the power amp to ensure you get the tone of your EL34 fuelled power-amp stage. This output is stereo, so you can use it with headphones as well as PAs, recording interfaces and mixers.
The built-in digital reverb is simply superb – dial in a little for subtle ambience or wind it up for full immersion. The effects loop lets you route external gear right into the amplifier’s path, and a footswitch input gives you control over the boost and reverb sections. A single-button footswitch for controlling the boost is included (you must press the boost button so it is on for the footswitch to work).
