The BJ400E Rathbone is named after London street Rathbone Place. It was here at the start of the 1900s that Albert Mullins and Samuel Bowley Barnes began producing some of the finest banjos ever known. The Barnes & Mullins BJ400 ‘Rathbone’ 5 string banjo combines outstanding quality with a commanding appearance and inspiring tone.
Featuring a quality Mahogany resonator, neck and rim with a rolled Brass tone ring and black Remo WeatherKing head, the Rathbone banjo combines a stylish, modern aesthetic with a traditional rich, warm sound and smooth response – our Pro-SCM setup completes the package.
The Rathbone boasts hard wearing chrome hardware and fittings, an Ovangkol fingerboard and traditional Planetary Machine Heads for excellent tuning stability.
The Barnes & Mullins BJ400E Rathbone 5 String Banjo features a humbucking pickup with a 6.35mm (1/4″) output jack and volume control making it the ideal choice for amplified on-stage or studio duties.
